Despite the decline in investment in renewable energy by 14 %, almost half of all electric power plants of the world built in 2013 work on "green" energy. According to annual UNEP report cost of solar energy compared to 2009 fell by 25 %, and wind energy - by 53 %. Renewable energy market of the Russian Federation as a whole is estimated at 8.5-10 billion euros.

The third part of the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that it is possible to avoid the catastrophic climate change consequences, but only if the immediate and long-term reduction of carbon pollution will be started by every country.

The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation has started discussions of the "Energy Strategy of Russia until 2035." The last update of the document was made five years ago.
